Indigenous America
What I learned about Indigenous America was that America is a rich and diverse tapestry of cultures, traditions and histories. from the native American tribes to the ancient civilizations like the Maya and Inca, indigenous peoples have made significant contributions to the fabric of American society. their deep connection to the land, their spiritual beliefs, and their resilience in the face of adversity are all part of the legacy they have left behind. exploring the art, music, and stories of indigenous America can offer a deeper understanding and appreciation for the vibrant tapestry of this continent's history.
Settler- colonialism -Colonial America
I learned that settler colonialism refers to the process where settlers from one country establish permanent communities on the land of another country, often displacing or marginalizing the indigenous population. It has had profound and lasting impacts on indigenous peoples and their lands, leading to the loss of traditional territories, cultural practices, and sovereignty. Understanding the history and ongoing effects of settler colonialism is crucial for fostering dialogue, reconciliation, and justice for indigenous communities.

The American Revolution
What I learned on the American revolution was that it was a pivotal moment in history when the American colonies fought for independence from British rule. it was a time of great change and rebellion, with figures like George Washington leading the charge. The revolution resulted in the birth of the United States of America, establishing a new nation founded on principles of liberty and democracy. |
Creating a new country
During the 1780's and 1790's, significant events took place that shaped the course of history. this period marked the aftermath of the American Revolution and the establishment of the United States as a new nation, It was a time of political and social transformation, with the drafting of the U.S. constitution and the emergence of political parties like the federalists and the democratic-republicans. these decades laid the foundation for the young nation and set the stage for its future growth and development
Expanding the territory of the United States
One thing that I learned from this was that the United states began to expand its territory beyond the original thirteen colonies. The Louisiana purchase of 1803 doubled the size of the country, followed by the acquisition of Florida from Spain in 1819. The 1840's saw the annexation of Texas and the Mexican-American war, which led to the acquisition of California, New Mexico, and other western territories. This period of territorial expansion played a significant role in shaping the United States into the vast and diverse nation it is today.
